The 2nd annual Midwest Queer Indigenous and People of Color Conference (QIPOC) was held April 8-10, 2016 in St. Louis, Missouri. Keynote speakers included La Loba Loca and Holiday Simmons. See below for the mission, purpose, and vision of the conference.

Mission:

The Upper Midwest Queer Indigenous and People of Color Conference (QIPOC) ensures vital space is held for QIPOC Communities in the Upper Midwest to access and share their voices, lived experiences, and stories. The conference’s mission is to create a dynamic, learning space where queer people of color can thrive.

Purpose:

The Upper Midwest Queer Indigenous and People of Color Conference creates space to re-center the voices of queer indigenous and people of color. Accessing ourselves broadens the scope of queer justice and radically addresses complex, intersecting issues of race, class, gender, indigenous rights and other inequities that exist locally and globally.

Vision:

The vision for the Upper Midwest Queer Indigenous and People of Color Conference is to set the platform for a future that transforms the life chances and choices of queer people of color.
