Scope and Contents of the Materials
The William Zbaren Photograph Collection consists of 62 prints of photographs by Zbaren from
American City: St. Louis Architecture: Three Centuries of Classic Design with accompanying text by Robert Sharoff originally on display at the Missouri Botanical Garden’s Ridgway Center from June 10 – August 21, 2011.
American City: St. Louis Architecture is the first oversized volume on St. Louis architecture since the 1920s.
Collection Historical Note
A St. Louis native, Zbaren graduated from the 1971 class of Normandy High School. His work has appeared in The New York Times, Architectural Record, and other notable publications. Zabaren teamed with his partner, architectural journalist Robert Sharoff, to create the series, American City to celebrate some of the States’ most architecturally impressive cities.
