Item 1: McClure to Henry Wenning. San Francisco. Thanks him for inquiry through Dave Meltzer about his manuscripts of The New Book/A Book of Torture [collection of poems].  Explains the development of the collection and describes the writing of the poems. Comments on several individual poems, including For Artaud, Flowers of Politics, A Cool Pamphlet, Small Secret Book, and The Mad Sonnet. [Added page?] Requests payment and agrees to terms. Pencil notation upper right corner incorrectly reads `Nov. 61', 1961: December 9
Item 2: McClure to Henry Wenning. San Francisco. Discusses hopes and rationale for sale of manuscripts. Discusses Small Secret Book [poem] and The New Book/A Book of Torture. Comments that Dark Brown [collection of poems] was sold by Larry Walrich for an agreeable sum. Mentions Marie Bergamini. Note on essay about Small Secret Book appended, 1961
