Item 1: Roethke to "Dorothy" sending greetings, telling her where his poems have appeared recently and announcing that his second book will appear the next spring, 1947: November 9
Item 2: The Waking: Poems 1933-1953 (Doubleday & Company, 1954). Disbound copy, with original hard covers. This copy was used as a setting copy for Part One of the Secker and Warburg edition of the author's Selected Poems, eventually published as Words for the Wind, 1957. Loosely inserted or stapled to the original pages are manuscript and typescript layouts for certain preliminary leaves, including the title-page and the contents leaves for both Parts One and Two. Each page of text bears pencil or ink instructions for the compositors. From the library of Roger Senhouse, a director of Secker and Warburg. Staples removed. Most of the signatures intact.
