Oliver Wendell Withington (July 16, 1809 – March 31, 1853) was born in Boston, Massachusetts to Ebenezer Withington, a Unitarian clergyman, and Elizabeth Perkins. He attended Harvard College (circa 1820). Withington wrote a number of poems and musical scores including “The Pilgrim. A Poem: Delivered Before the Associate Alumni of the University of Vermont, at the Annual Commencement, August, 1849,” “Hymn” (1838), “I Love the Snow: A Song,” and “A Smile for the Many Who Smile On Us: a Song.”
